Crossing the Iron Curtain with music - the story of Maestro Alipi Naidenov: conductor, musician, teacher and mentor to hundreds of young Bulgarians, who crossed the Iron Curtain to follow their passion for music in Italy.
Alipi chaired the Conductor Courses at the Sienna Music Academy for over three decades.
Now in his 80s, he recalls a life lived in the shadow of a Communist dictatorship with its ever present 'secret' agents, yet always absorbed by the beauty of music, and his love for Italy.

So IOW, even though this is Bulgarian television, they begin with footage of the Soviet Politburo. I wonder how much time they actually devoted to Bulgarian news?

Dennis Nayland Smith Every Friday instead of Bulgarian TV News Programme at 20 : 00 O' clock they were broadcasting the Soviet' s 1 - st TV Channel news programme . Immediately after that a shortened version of the Bulgarian TV News Programme was broadcasted. Later the same evening a Soviet Movie was broadcasted. Friday evening was reserved for Soviet propaganda. Nowadays the situation is even worse. The propaganda is much more broadcasted and much more sophisticated. But not Soviet one.

Thanx for the upload. I've been reading about Dimitar Peshev because I seen a news story about they were thinking about naming a street after him in Washington DC. There is apparently some conflict between the US Holocaust Museum and a member of the Bulgarian government. I guess even 70 years later, this issue brings up the bad feelings it did then.

Indeed! And we Romanians loved to watch Bulgarian TV once you guys launched the second channel. We used to make as powerful antenas as we could, to tune in and watch Bulgarian TV. Our kids would watch Lolek and Bolek. We would watch Get Smart, Colombo, Alf and many more... We started to learn Bulgarian. In Romania, things were much worse. We only had 2 hours of TV everyday, from 20:00 to 22:00, wich was News, weather, a propaganda film and a briefing on the state of the economy in all sectors.
